Turn Your Customers Into Solar Paychecks

ContractorSOLAR helps residential contractors earn extra income by referring or co-selling solar to customers you already serve. Roofing and HVAC contractors are ideal partners—and remodelers, plumbers, electricians, and other residential trades are welcome. Brandon manages the ContractorSOLAR division of The Contractors Resource Center: he qualifies contractor partners, and Brandon and/or a solar team member meets with homeowners. A network of solar installers in most major cities handles the installs. You get paid when qualified appointments are completed and when sales close.

What is a qualified appointment?

All of the following must be true:

  • You provide a recent copy of the homeowner’s electricity bill
  • The appointment is held by phone or Zoom with the homeowner(s) on the call—Brandon and/or a solar team member meets with them

Terms apply. The contractor agreement will be provided when you enroll. Payout timing and eligibility follow that agreement. This page does not guarantee income.

Why Your Customers Make Ideal Solar Prospects

You’re already in the home. Roofing and HVAC partners often have the strongest fit—comfort, energy bills, and roof timing—but any residential contractor who homeowners trust can open the door to solar.

They’re already investing in the home

Whether it’s a roof, HVAC system, remodel, or other home improvement, the homeowner is spending on the property. Solar often fits the same “improve the house” conversation.

Energy bills come up naturally

Comfort and utility costs come up on many residential jobs. That opens an easy, honest door to ask if they’ve looked at solar.

Roofing and HVAC are ideal partners

Roof condition and timing, and energy-bill conversations, make roofing and HVAC especially strong fits—while other residential trades are welcome too.

They trust you

You’re not a stranger knocking on the door. A warm intro from their contractor carries weight.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What counts as a qualified appointment for ContractorSOLAR?

A qualified appointment requires all of these: the homeowner owns the home; you provide a recent copy of the homeowner’s electricity bill; and the appointment is held by phone or Zoom with the homeowner(s) on the call. Brandon and/or a solar team member meets with the homeowner(s). Full details are in the contractor agreement.

2. When do I get paid?

You earn $150 once the qualified appointment is completed. You earn $2,000 if the sale closes, paid once the installation is paid. Exact payout timing follows the contractor agreement. Terms apply.

3. Who meets with the homeowner—and who installs?

Brandon and/or a solar team member meets with the homeowner(s) on the qualified appointment. A network of solar installers in most major cities handles the installs. You refer or co-sell—you’re not expected to run the homeowner meeting or install solar yourself.

4. Do I need a solar contractor license?

Brandon manages ContractorSOLAR and qualifies contractor partners. Brandon and/or a solar team member handles the homeowner meeting and sales process, and installers handle the work in the field. Residential contractors refer or co-sell through ContractorSOLAR. License rules can depend on how you participate, so if you have questions about your CSLB license or what you’re allowed to do, check with the Contractors State License Board (CSLB). We’re not giving legal advice here.

5. Who can join—and is this only California?

ContractorSOLAR is open to residential contractors—roofing and HVAC are ideal partners, and remodelers, plumbers, electricians, and other residential trades are welcome. We’re starting with California contractors. If you’re outside California and want updates, still submit the form and we’ll note your interest.

6. Will this take time away from my business?

It’s built to fit around the work you already do. You introduce solar to customers you’re already serving and share a recent electricity bill. Brandon qualifies contractor partners; Brandon and/or a solar team member meets with homeowners; and installers build—so you’re not running a second full-time solar operation.
